LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - The U.S. Small Business Administration's Yolanda Garcia Olivarez visited the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock during a trip to the state March 8-10. Olivarez is the administrator for SBA's Region VI, a five-state area that is headquartered in Dallas and includes Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The ASBTDC hosted a roundtable meeting March 8 for Olivarez to talk with small business lenders and congressional staff. They shared feedback on SBA loan programs, including the small business provisions in the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

"I'm here for no other reason than to make things easier for you," Olivarez told the group, which included lenders from Conway, Fayetteville, Hot Springs, Jonesboro, Little Rock and Russellville, plus congressional aides for Senator Blanche Lincoln, Senator Mark Pryor and Representative Vic Snyder.

As the state's premier business assistance provider, the ASBTDC assists entrepreneurs at every stage of business development and growth. A partnership of the SBA and UALR College of Business, ASBTDC serves new, existing and innovation- based small businesses. Through a statewide network of seven offices, ASBTDC provides free consulting and market research services plus affordable training to the business community.
