by Rebecca Norman, Graduate Assistant, UALR Lead Center

The Nevada Small Business and Development Center (SBDC) is hosting the 2009 National Small Business Innovation Research and Small Business Technology Transfer (SBIR/STTR) conference from November 2-5, 2009. The conference will provide an opportunity for high technology, start-up companies to learn how to take advantage of the $2.3 billion available from the government's SBIR and STTR programs. The conference will highlight renewable energy and energy-efficient technologies.

The SBIR/STTR conference will be held at John Ascuaga's Nugget Casino Resort in Sparks, Nevada, east of the University of Nevada, Reno campus. Interested conference participants should book a room by October 1, 2009 to guarantee reduced-rate room availability. For information about the conference agenda, visit the conference website at www.unr.edu/SBIR-STTR2009.

This national conference will bring together a national audience of research and development-focused small businesses and entrepreneurs, university faculty, contractors and potential collaborators into direct contact with the representatives of the federal agencies that provide SBIR/STTR funding. Networking opportunities will be abundant for those seeking partnerships to secure prominent visibility.

For more information about the conference agenda, contact Dr. Fritz Grupe at fhgrupe@gmail.com or by phone at 775.813.7407. For additional details about conference registration, contact Shera Alberti-Annunzio at shera@unr.edu or by phone at 775.784.4046.
