2009 Innovation-Based Business Training Schedule Announced
by Laura Fine, Assistant State Director
The Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center announces three events in 2009 for innovation-based businesses:
FastTrac® TechVenture™ is a program designed specifically for entrepreneurs in the fields of technology or life sciences. This 10-session course seeks to guide entrepreneurs as they develop a business concept and learn to express it through an Elevator Pitch, a Business Plan, and an Investor Presentation. These varied expressions of their business concept share one goal: to allow entrepreneurs to acquire the funding necessary to launch or grow their business. Registration fee is $250 and sessions start February 10 in Little Rock.
SBIR/STTR Phase I Proposal Writing Workshop
April 21, 2009
Arkansas Biosciences Institute
Arkansas State University
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program provides federal funding for business and product strategies that meet federal research and development needs. Covering all 11 agencies that participate in SBIR and STTR (a sister program), the eight-hour workshop is for early-stage, first-time or unsuccessful writers of SBIR Phase I proposals.
SBIR/STTR Phase II Proposal Writing Workshop
July 9, 2009
Stephens Event Center
University of Arkansas at Little Rock
This eight-hour course is designed to provide entrepreneur-authors with specific in-class exercises and interactive feedback from an expert instructor to help them to plan and then complete each section of a Phase II SBIR/STTR proposal. All agencies are covered in this workshop. The program will concentrate on two critical portions: the work plan and the commercialization plan. Although all interested parties are welcome, the workshop is designed specifically for those companies that have been awarded at least one Phase I effort on the SBIR Program and are confident they will be invited to submit a Phase II proposal (each agency is different!).
These events are being sponsored by Arkansas EPSCoR, National Science Foundation, Arkansas Science & Technology Authority, and the Arkansas Small Business and Technology Development Center.
