Registration Open for 2008 National SBIR Conference
by Mildred Holley, Technology Programs Manager
Hartford, Connecticut has been selected as the location for the next national SBIR conference. The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs provide over $2 billion annually to U.S. small businesses to conduct early stage technical and scientific research projects. Eleven federal agencies award grants or contracts to successful applicants. Phase I projects are proof-of-concept opportunities. Success in this phase provides the opportunity to compete for Phase II awards to continue research and development work. Commercialization is a key goal of the SBIR/STTR programs, and small businesses use the program funds to develop viable solutions to agency needs and research interests. The small businesses that participate are then able to market their products and services to commercial customers in addition to potential federal customers.
The conference agenda includes time for one-on-one meetings with representatives from the participating federal agencies, federal laboratories and large companies. The event includes a structured networking activity, poster show, exhibits and presentations.
The conference dates are November 12 – November 14. The registration fee is $395, and includes meals. Visit www.ccat.us/sbir_conference_08 for many more details.
