Go Green and Save Green
by Sarah Hays, Graduate Assistant, UALR Lead Center

As a small business owner it is possible to implement sustainable business practices that not only help the environment but also save money. According to the Energy Efficiency Guide developed by Business.gov, small business owners can take a number of steps to help go green while also saving some green. By pursuing some energy efficient upgrades, businesses can reduce their monthly utility bills. Increased efficiency can be achieved as simply as turning off the lights when they are not in use and altering your business’s paper habits. Some of the guide’s tips include: replacing regular light bulbs with ENERGY STAR qualified bulbs, using double sided printing and copying, and seeking the advice of a contractor for green building remodeling or simply to make your existing space more efficient.
