by Mildred Holley, Technology Programs Manager
Chuck Chalfant will speak at the Arkansas Techpreneur meeting this Wednesday, February 28th. Chalfant is President of Space Photonics, Inc of Fayetteville. Space Photonics' product focus is in avionics and space optical communications. The firm has received $6.6 million through 21 SBIR/STTR awards as it has developed its products for the military and space industries.
Eleven federal agencies fund small business technical/scientific research projects through the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. More than $2 billion is awarded annually to U.S. small businesses under these programs. SBIR/STTR awards provide early-stage money to entrepreneurial projects whose aim is to advance the state of the art in their fields.
Join the Techpreneur group at 7:30 a.m. for continental breakfast, networking and to hear Chalfant share the Space Photonics success story at Wednesday’s session. The event will be held at the UALR Bailey Alumni Center.
