Therapeutic Massage - It's All The Rage
by Betsey Martin, UALR Lead Center

Whether you’re opening your own massage therapy clinic or incorporating the service into your hair salon, day spa or alternative health practice – massage is what’s happening in personal care services.

Massage is not just a luxury treatment. According to the AMTA's 2003 Massage Therapy Consumer Survey Fact Sheet, Americans are using massage to boost their overall health by relieving stress and pain. Also, there's a jump in the number of seniors who get massages.

The Arkansas SBDC has introduced a new collection in the Research Center dealing with massage therapy. Some of the resources include:

- The Business of Massage
- Marketing Massage: How to Build your Dream Practice

The learning doesn't end with these resources! Get involved with a leading industry trade association, such as the American Massage Therapy Association: www.amtamassage.org

To view the books, (on site in Little Rock), contact the UALR SBDC's lead center at 501-324-9043.
