Proposals are limited to 25 pages and must be submitted through the DoE's web-based Industry Interactive Procurement System.
The DoE has identified 49 topics across the following 11 program areas. Each topic includes one or more described subtopics.
-- Electric Transmission and Distribution,
-- Biological and Environmental Research,
-- Fossil Energy,
-- Basic Energy Sciences,
-- Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology,
-- Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy,
-- Fusion Energy Sciences,
-- High Energy Physics,
-- Advanced Scientific Computing Research,
-- Nuclear Physics, and
-- Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation.
The DoE estimates it will award about 280 fixed price research grants of up to $100,000 in response to this solicitation. The agency anticipates selection of awards will occur in late April 2005, with Phase I projects to begin late June 2005. The DoE allows Phase I project periods to be a maximum of 9 months.
