Dept. of Energy Research Opportunities

The Department of Energy released its 2004 Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) progam announcement on October 7th. This solicitation for SBIR/STTR proposals contains 47 research topics within 11 topic categories.

DoE estimates that it will award about 240 Phase 1 research grants of up to $100,000 each. The agency also estimates that about one-third to one-half of Phase I awardees will receive Phase II funding to further their research activities. DoE accepts proposals in paper form, and they must be received by the agency no later than 5 p.m. EST on January 6, 2004. DoE's 2004 program solicitation containing full instructions is posted on its web site, http://sbir.er.doe.gov/sbir/.
