Graphic Intensive Websites Underperformed on Black Friday

Overuse of graphics by online retailers are thought to have caused only 1 in 5 transacations to have been completed during peak hours on "Black Friday", the day after Thansksgiving. Between 9 a.m. and Noon, online retailers completed only about 20% of transactions. The average for the entire day was 89%. Analysts believe use of Macromedia Flash and other "cool" eye-catching technologies by merchants significantly slowed Internet servers during the peak online sales period.
