Morrison Acres, Inc.
Paul and Mary Morrison, Owners
Farmington, Arkansas
Passion is the fuel of dreams. Paul Morrison, along with his daughter Mary,
exudes passion and dreams big. Morrison Acres, Inc., a raw clover honey business,
has grown from 30 distribution outlets to over 200. Graduating from original
outlets including fruit stands and feed stores, the company now sells its
product in Sam's Clubs, Wal-Mart, Harp's and IGA.
Morrison Acres has historically contracted out for its honey processing.
Realizing that the limitations on output capacity impeded the ability to expand
product lines and profit margins, the Morrisons approached the UAF SBDC for
assistance. They worked with Glyn Finley, Business Consultant, to develop their
business plan and loan package to acquire an SBA guaranty loan through the Bank
of Fayetteville. Morrison Acres, Inc. will soon break ground on a new processing
facility in Farmington.
The business has steadily built its reputation by providing a high quality
product. The company uses a screening process to reduce the amount of bee
pollen in the honey. Marketed under the name of Grandma's Honey, the honey
features the likeness of Paul's grandparents on the label.
Father and daughter plan to grow the company's distribution outlets and expand
product lines to include jams, jellies, sauces and salsa.
