Dr. C. Brant Crisp operates a growing dental practice in Fort Smith, Arkansas that he opened in May 2001. As with any growing business, the need for additional working capital increased as the business grew. After a review of his operations, he decided that if he could buy out his existing leases, the cash savings would provide the working capital he needed to add staff and continue to expand his business. Simmons First National Bank had reviewed the proposal and agreed to buy out the leases if the U.S. Small Business Administration would guarantee the loan.

His banker at Simmons First National Bank introduced Crisp to Vonelle Vanzant, center director at the University of Arkansas - Fort Smith SBDC, for assistance in preparing the SBA loan application. Vanzant worked with Dr. Crisp to secure the needed SBA guaranteed loan. The cash savings realized have allowed Dr. Crisp to invest in his practice and his community by hiring staff and better meeting the needs of patients.
